Where is the money for the PACs coming from? Item #5 has the funds from individuals that contributed over $ 10,000.00 to the Marceno Campaign. 

The campaign of Carmine Marceno raised over 1.4 million dollars in contributions. More than half of those funds came from three different PACs. Where did these contributions come from and for what purpose? Are the citizens of Lee County really electing the best candidate to the Office of Sheriff or has the "political clout" and "political money" covered the real issues of the candidate's troubled background and lack of experience? Are our elections being bought out and for what purpose? 

A Sheriff who has no command experience, no college degree, and a troubled background which resulted in a "no recommendation for hire" at one law enforcement agency has become the elected Sheriff. This is a Sheriff that does not even qualify at most law enforcement agencies to even receive an application for employment.  

It begs the question, is our politicians no longer held to a higher standard of moral and ethical conduct? Did the "political clout" and "political money" cover the candidate's troubled issues? Are these elections being bought by both "political clout" and "political money". Perhaps it is true that our elections are being driven by money and no longer a decision of those in our community. 

What is more troubling is that contributions continue to come into the Marceno PAC even after his election. Marceno has diverted some of this funding to other candidates for public office thus creating an environment that other candidates feel a need of loyalty to him.
